Possible bladder Cancer

Hi A couple of weeks ago I had blood in my wee and went to the gp who has referred me to the hospital under the 2 week cancer rule suspecting bladder cancer and I am having a flexible cystoscopy on Saturday and CT scan with contrast the following Wednesday.    I am really petrified of the results as 3 years ago I had breast cancer and had a mastectomy.    I am making 2 plus 2 make 20!   I am a worrier at the best of times but now I can’t stop thinking about it and am convinced it will be cancer again…… I am sorry to go on and I know there are a lot of people in a worst situation than me.

  • Hi Jaynie, Welcome to the group I understand your fear we have all been there, long story short 20 years ago I underwent a mastectomy for breast cancer followed by months of chemotherapy five years later I had a full hysterectomy again due to cancer, when I was diagnosed with BC last year it was one of the first questions I asked the consultant he said a definitive no, he asked if I had ever smoked or worked with chemicals my answer was no to both and his reply was just bad luck then. Please try not to dwell on your last cancer and concentrate on what you are facing now. My love and best wishes to you. Lynn

  • Hi Janie

I think Granny M should have reassured you but maybe you could also remember that tests work in two ways, to prove you don't or that you do have an illness. You did the right thing by going to your GP and being referred and very soon you will have the tests. We are lucky this 2 weeks system exists. And either way it's better to know asap so you can deal with the result.

    Good luck
