Hello, this is my first time here although I have read through some of your supportive messages to each other in the past.
I’m a 44 year old, healthy female. In November 2022 I had a gross hematuria which lasted 24 hours then never returned. Luckily, I was on it and went straight to the doctors. Ultrasound, CT and cystoscopy followed, I was told at the cystoscopy that I had a 4.5 cm tumour, non muscle invasive bladder cancer. In January 2023 I had a successful TURBT which revealed the tumour was pta grade 2. All check ups were fine up until New Year’s Eve 2024, no symptoms or any inclination but a cystoscopy revealed 2 new tumours!!
I’ve had a CT scan and I am meeting with my consultant/surgeon tomorrow ahead of TURBT surgery next week. He did say I would have a course of mitomycin this time whereas last time I only had one with the surgery.
My questions for you all are: what should I be asking now I’ve had a recurrence? My head is swimming with.. Will it keep coming back and will it be more severe? Will it come back muscle evasive, or spread or pop up somewhere else? I know how lucky I am that it’s is a low grade but it came back so I’ve lost the confidence in thinking I’m lucky!
I am experiencing groin pain which cones in waves.. but the surgeon said I wouldn’t feel pain with NMIBC. Has anyone else experienced this?
Gosh it plays games with your head doesn’t it?!!
Thank you all for listening Xx
Hi Mrsj9
Welcome to the group you'll find support and advice from a wide range of experiances.
Iam sorry to hear you are having more trouble and I can understand all the thoughts going through your head. Things should become more clear for you after your meeting with the consultant and your next turbt. Others on the forum will be along soon iam sure to offer advice.
Best wishes
Mark
Hi Mrsj9,Welcome to the group.I’m sorry you have new tumours.Unfortunately bladder cancer has a high recurrence rate. You could ask your consultant the questions you have mentioned here.Write down any thing you want to ask about recurrence, what treatment is available and its effectiveness.I took a small notebook in to jot down questions and answers. It can be helpful to take someone in with you as another set of ears is useful. Some people record the appointment. It’s easy to remember things you forgot to ask after the appointment.Good luck with your appointment and the TURBT.I hope you find this group helpful and supportive.Best wishes Jane x
Hi MrsJB
I had several more tumours appear a year after my first TURBT, these were removed May 2024 then in June and I had 6 weekly doses of Mitomycin
My last 2 checks have been cancer free, so hopefully the added course of chemo has done the trick
Not sure if there are many questions until after the TURBT and then again after the chemo
Good luck and I hope you get positive results
Much love Tina x
