I’ve just been diagnosed with bladder cancer. Operation in two weeks. I’m so anxious. I can’t seem to think of anything but the worst case outcome. Has anyone any tips how to get through this please?

  • Aw thank you. I’m glad your mum is doing well. X

  • Hi JoyceF

I am doing really well.  Thanks

I'm not sure if there is just one thing that helps with anxiety, everyone copes differently.

Try to keep busy and it will be over before you know it

    Much love Tina x

  • Hi JoyceF,Is there anything in particular that you are panicked about? It’s completely understandable as it’s all new and unknown.I’m sure once you have had the procedure done you will feel better.I always tried to keep busy beforehand. It did help to make the time go quicker.Love Jane xx

  • Thanks Jane. Think I’m just so worried to get more bad news and then suddenly I panic. Waiting for the scans this week. I am trying to do normal stuff. I’m in the hairdressers right now but turns out I’m not brave !!

  • You are braver than you think Joyce. It’s easier to take it one step at a time and try not to think too far ahead. It is difficult in the early stages of diagnosis but most people do feel much better once they have a treatment plan.Hugs love Jane xx

  • Hi Jane having a particularly panicky day. I had scans last Friday as the doctor said ‘to check if there’s cancer higher up.’  The scan nurses said I’d get results in a week which is tomorrow. I’m struggling to cope!  Will my chart just upload the results? I’m being treated at kings.

  • I’m so glad things are good for you. I’m waiting for scan results to see if kidneys etc are ok. Literally pacing about  going over worst case scenarios right now.  I need to get a grip!

  • Hi Joyce,I’m so sorry you are having a panicky day.I don’t know about how you will get your results but I expect someone here will. It’s usual to feel some ‘scanxiety’ but we are all here for support to get you through this horrible phase. The scans help the medical team get a detailed assessment of the cancer which helps determine the treatment plan.Love Jane xx

  • Hello Joyce

    sending best wishes.

    try not to google.

with my first diagnosis I was in complete shock and every pain headache or temperature I attributed to cancer. Fortunately I am having BCG and being tested.
