Hi
recently received a surprise diagnosis after being admitted to hospital with a totally unrelated kidney infection, and the sonographer picking up on bladder masses whilst only supposed to be scanning my kidneys.
my consultant has told me I’ve been very lucky, due to my age (39) and lack of risk factors (don’t smoke, drink etc) he says by the time I’d have got through to urology it could have been too late - as I was completely un symptomatic when it was picked up.
currently on week 3/6 mitomycin. Each week I feel completely exhausted for about 48 hours after the treatment- is this normal? I’ve been told I also have a high risk of the cancer returning due to multiple tumours found. What is everyone else’s experience of this, even after having the mitomycin?
thanks for taking the time to read this.

Hi Suzid85, welcome to the forum and sorry to hear of your diagnosis. It is a huge shock isnt it ? Its good that you have started treatment, I personally felt alot calmer once treatment began ( click on my profile for journey so far). I havent had mitomycin but others on here have. I am sure someone will be along to help soon. Take care

Hi Suzid85 and a warm welcome to the group. The fatigue is quite normal with treatment and should gradually get better. It is important to stay well hydrated by drinking plenty of water. BC is know for recurrences but the positive is you should be monitored regularly and anything new should should be dealt with early. Best wishes.
Hi and welcome Suzid85. My OH had too many tumours to count, 6 BCG, a single recurrence straight away, then some Mitomycin. He's been clear for about 6 years now, albeit he's a great deal older than you, not sure if that makes a difference. But shows it can work really well
Best.

Hi Suzid85
Great that it was picked up in the early stages
I had 2 tumours removed Feb 23, then multiple tumours removed April 24
I finished 6 weeks of Mitomycin 8th July 24
It does make me very tired for a day or two after
Had a rigid cystoscopy and biopsies 27th Aug 24 and awaiting results
BC does have a high risk of returning but we are in the system now and will be checked regularly
Take care
Much love Tina x
