I was recently diagnosed with bladder cancer. ( on 9/07/24)
I'm a 69 year Oldman ( soon to be 70 yrs !!)
I've a few trepidations about joining this " forum" .. but I thought I'd try !!
I'm on NHS fast track !! ( so I'm told !)
e.g.
I'm having my second TURBT procedure next Tuesday 30/07/24.
Had most ( but not all !) of my questions answered re: why I need this second TURBT procedure ? Thursday 18/07/24 ( by a Consultant Urologist)
I'm happy to share my experiences, so far, with anyone on this forum ( although I'm infuriated by how long it takes me type text !!)
I'm also happy to hear -- and to discuss ..about any other bladder cancer sufferers experiences ( so far) ... and to project into the future re possible outcomes, prognoses etc etc
Hi,
Welcome to this forum, but sorry to hear about your diagnosis.
Lot's of really friendly helpful experienced people on here. I found this forum extremely helpful when I was first diagnosed. Hearing other people's experiences really does help.
I had to have a second TURBT, and this seems to be fairly common. Best of luck for 30th July.
Many users have updated their profiles which tells their stories so far. Just click on the picture next to their names.
Wishing you all the best.
Trevor
Hi BC69yrs and a welcome from me . Just to echo Trevor's post. A follow up TURBT is fairly standard in most cases. Just to check nothing has been missed and to take further biopsies to give a more accurate diagnosis of what they are dealing with. Usually easier and not as severe as the first. The results determine the next step. We know how scary the early days of not knowing and uncertainty can be, but be aware, bladder cancer can be treated successfully. Lots of experience here so feel free to ask anything. Best wishes.
Hi Ciaran,
Firstly sorry that you’re here in the first place, but it’s a great forum for advice and support… there’s no such thing as a silly question so ask away.. I too had two TURBTS and had my first BCG treatment today. Trust in the process and with most of us, the waiting for results and appointments are the worse part. I wish you well on your journey.
Nigel
Thanks for your reassurances Rily
This forum is great: I'll sign off on here for a few days and try to diarise/date my journey & list all my diagnoses, impressions 7 ( most likely ?!) BCG induction treatments ( experiences) so far in words ( hopefully in an articulate easily understood way).. and attach it to my profile pic on this forum: I've now read many others accounts/diaries/reports/ interpretations/ opinions on here: I think that generally these accounts are of some use ( and quite cathartic !) for all/ some on here).
As the support literature says... "diagnosis is a rollercoaster...."
I'm determined to enjoy the ride by always remaining objective, determined and (always) optimistic & open to humour !!!
Thanks Rob !
Yep this is a great forum for advice and support !!
Just lnow ooked at your recent entry in your profile: Great that you've now completed BCG1 ( First of 6 weekly outpatient day care BCG sessions... " Induction BCG)" I bet) ? 'll be posting my experience of my BCG 1 - 6 Induction treatments quite soon ( I'm led to believe ( if my imminent TURBT works out !!?) that I'll be persuaded to attend BCG induction immunotherapy from last week of August.
Sorry I'll shut up .. just riffing !! ( but incoherently !)
Ciaran
