So, my ct scans done on the 8th of dec revealed a pouch of fluid and a little thickening around the join where the conduit joins the ureters, they also say my lymph nodes are enlarged.
I spent from the 8th to the 22nd of dec in a state of terror, meanwhile, my case went to a disciplinary team at the hospital, now they’re saying it could be connective tissue inflammation, what ever that means!!!!
I ve somewhat relaxed since that call, but now I’ve started over thinking it again!!! Don’t want to get it all out of perspective, my mental health is not been brilliant & my anxiety is through the roof. Just want this rollercoaster to stop
has anybody else been in this situation, please, no scar stories what’s going on in my head is bad enough x
Hi Rachel72. Can't really help with this one but just wishing you all the best for the New Year. I hope it doesn't turn out to be anything too bad. Hopefully someone with experience will be along to offer some reassurance. Best wishes.
I have enlarged lymph nodes. They did an extensive investigation many years ago and could find no cause. Recently due to a CT scan they've noticed a change and so they are investigating again.
The currently theory is that it's an auto-immune issue (sarcoidosis) but they want to do a biopsy. I have suffered from a different auto-immune issue in the past so it seems credible, at least in my case.
Now if it is something similar in your case then other issues may manifest due to the immune system attacking your own body.
I've had enlarged lymph nodes for a very long time and it doesn't appear to have caused me any issues. If the cause of the enlargement is due to an auto-immune problem then it's certainly possible that it's also the cause of your other problem, but that's something they will need to investigate.
In my experience getting a diagnosis for an auto-immune issue has been difficult though. I'm no expert - in fact I tend to avoid looking things up because anything medical tends to scare me. But I a a very cursors google search:
"In autoimmune disorders, inflammation and the immune response may result in connective tissue damage, not only in and around joints but also in other tissues, including vital organs, such as the kidneys and organs in the gastrointestinal tract."
So it does sound like a possibility.
I assume you posted here because you are worried that it's cancer? Unless you've had that diagnosis I wouldn't worry about that yet as the above and many other things could be the cause. I've lived with the above issues for a long time without issue. I did get really ill once many years ago but other than that I've been able to live a normal life.
I’ve learned in the (almost) last two years Thant anything to do with cancer or problems there after are very long winded and an answer one way or the other seems like an impossibility!!!
They want to re scan in 3 months time, although I have a telephone consultation with my urologist on the 15th of this month, I dreading it, in fact, it’s worrying me so much that I’m starting to loose sleep over it. It’s getting ridiculous x
I totally understand. Just know we're here for you if you need to talk. If you are anything like me the anxiety will probably increase as the date approaches. If it feels like it getting to much then please see your GP, there are medications that can help keep the anxiety under control. In the meantime, keep us updated on how you are feeling. You are not alone.
Thank you so much, it really does mean so much to me xx
