Thank you for that jane, I got a call today from a nurse she went through a lot with me and i was asking her questions I didn't know, and a lot of what you have told me, I feel reassured now and like one of yous said just take one step at a time and wait for the histology test x
Thank you for your message, I was worried because I didn't know anything the nurse phoned me this morning and explained a lot and reassured me of what was going to happen ext, so feel better now thank you x
Hi Jackie,When you are first diagnosed it is all new and can cause anxiety. This group is helpful for asking questions and getting advice.People usually feel a bit more settled once the results are back and a treatment plan is in place.Glad that the nurse was able to reassure you a bit.Love Jane
Hi Jackd my pre op was awful , my blood pressure was very high , which I put down to anxiety, I didn’t want a general aesthetic bad experience many years ago but was told I had to have general, . I asked to have procedure done at my local treatment centre but was refused so have to travel to Sunderland hospital to have it done , yet I had my scan and cystoscope done at local centre , so frustrating as I have to rely on lifts to get me there , have my op next week if my blood pressure is down . So more anxiety than I needed , best wishes Nelbell
Hi Nelbell,I’m sorry that your pre op wasn’t good. They have to do the op under a general because they need to take deeper biopsies. These would be far too painful to have done under a local.I’ve had superficial biopsies done under a local and they hurt. Also they have to inflate the bladder to take a good look at it and this is done under a general anaesthetic. It’s usually a fairly quick op so fingers crossed you will be ok with the anaesthetic.I hope your blood pressure comes down.Best wishes Jane
What a shame to have your plans upset. General anaesthetics are much better these days and it is quite a brief, light one for TURBT. You should be assessed by the anaesthetist on the day & you can explain your concerns. It helps if you are able to minimise the period of fasting beforehand.
Worth asking about hospital transport rather than rely on a lift, especially as you might need to stay in overnight.
Hi Nelbell. It takes about 10 days to process the biopsies, but then here is a further wait for an appointment to discuss things. About 3 weeks is the average. The waiting is something everyone gets anxious about. I hope all goes well. Best wishes.
