Hi guys I’m so scared and it’s the middle of the night so you’re all probably asleep Face palm♀️Face palm♀️Face palm♀️

I had a TURBT 6 weeks ago they took numerous tumours and biopsies came back high grade aggressive NOT muscle invasive.
booked me in for a second TURBT on the 7th of October

for the past few days I have had Gross Hematuria again / blood in pee and clots.
does that mean tumours have come back again so quickly.
They said they had removed everything that was in my bladder six weeks ago.
so it seems to make sense to me that they have returned because of gross hematuria again.
i would be so grateful for you’re input.
thank you Pray

  • Good morning Suzanne, and I’m sorry to hear about your anxiety and lack of sleep. You will probably hear from others on here about similar experiences. When you think of what’s been going on in your bladder over the past few weeks it’s not surprising that it’s acting a bit differently from usual. Discuss the problem with your medical team and seek their reassurance. Most on here will have experienced blood clots and bleeding and it is rather scary. Your TURBT on 7th October will check to see how things have gone and after that you’ll have a clearer picture of progress. Drink lots of water and try Robinsons lemon barley water to clear out the debris and hopefully you’ll soon feel better, kindest regards, John.

  • Hi suzanne, so sorry for your anxiety but its very common for us with this problem. Bleeding and clots can last a long time from  your last TURBT,so lets hope this is on the mend.

Your next procedure you say is another TURBT, are you sure its not a cystoscopy to check how things are?

  • It would not be unusual to have a second TURBT to have a second look to be sure all cancer had been removed.

  • Hi thank you for your reply. They said it’s a TURBT Bouquet general anaesthetic

  • They called and said another TURBT under general and possibly more biopsies

  • They called and said another TURBT under general  and d possibly more biopsies

  • . Hi Suzanne. I had a follow up TURBT and it is fairly normal procedure. It is just a mopping up operation to check nothing was missed and a few random biopsies. Much easier than the original op and I was in and out in several hours. As said before, lots of water to keep things flushed out. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Hi Suzanne, if your doctors have said your cancer was not muscle invasive that is really good news. It means  that just like my husband who had the same, high grade aggressive but not muscle invasive, it can be treated. Yes it may likely recur and treatment need to be repeated and repeated, but you can expect caring monitoring as often as your case requires, I hope that will give you better peace of mind.
