Hello all,
I was diagnosed with bladder wall thickening. I have appointment with urologist next Wednesday but I’m so scared at this point as from what I’ve read it’s leading to cancer. Please feel free to share your stories and journeys.

50 years old in good health.
Andxiously looking for support.
Hello . Thickening of the bladder wall can be caused by other things but still needs to be investigated. When you see your urologist, are you having any procedures or just a meeting to discuss things? The usual most reliable test is a flexible cystoscopy. This is a camera in to your bladder to see what is going on. I was diagnosed first, and then told of a thickened bladder wall, but told this could just be a sign of getting older. I hope all goes well. Best wishes.
Hi . No meds for me. I went on to have bladder cancer treatment. That was several years ago. The main thing we are always advised is to drink plenty of water regularly during the day. Best wishes.
Hi, there are commonly 2 types of prostate infection, you're probably talking about Prostatitis (none of which are linked to prostate cancer btw), there is acute and chronic. Acute, comes on hard and fast, is easier to heal as it often is resolved with antibiotics, this is relatively uncommon though. Most men, like myself, have/had Chronic (or ongoing) Prostatitis.
If your doctor confirms Chronic Prostatitis:
Nobody knows how we get it, or how to get rid of it. In fact there are probably multiple causes. Common backgrounds are: infections, trauma to that area (e.g. an accident), operations in the area, catheter usage etc. I have had bouts where I have pain in penis, testicles, anus area and even down my inner thighs all the way past my knees. There might also be an auto-immune reaction, your body almost attacking/stressing itself.
The solution is typically lifestyle, diet and anti-stress related (although your urologist may also put you on anti-biotics to be safe). Start Kegel exercises, yes men can do it too ;-) Stop coffee and alcohol immediately, take hot baths, go for walks, start on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. My urologist picked up on mine after my first TURBT which went a bit sideways... including a perforated bladder and sepsis.. but that's a story for another time, dear readers!
It took me 3-4 months to get rid of the pain and I am now practically free of it, although every now and again when I am stressed, I feel a twinge in that area.

Ps: Macmillan also has have a lot of knowledge on Prostatitis (even though it is not cancer, and does not lead to cancer in later life), i even spoke to the Macmillan nurse about it:
