Well I had an appointment today to see if they could give me something to help with my next cystoscopy as urology have referred me to them for support and or a sedative.
Got there and she apologised and said they would not give medication like that as they are unable to monitor me with it, which I agree with tbh, and that they were unsure why the hospital have sent me to my GP for help. So they have referred it back to urology to deal with.
And I agree that they are the ones dealing with you at the time and there are things they can do to help people who struggle like myself rather than just having to deal with a traumatic and or painful experience.
I know it's only brief and it's over quick but that really does not help a lot, but I just can't see a wya of going through that every 6 months at the moment, I mean the second one they saw the state I was in and it was their recommendation to go for GA for future checks and that happens for a while at least.
I'd be happy with anything that would make me relax and get through it easier but it seems as always there is always a reason why they don't want to do it or can't do it. I also think it's difficult as to doctors and stuff it just becomes abohrer procedure that they do day in day out so to them it's just normal.
So yeah who knows but I've now got to wait and see what urology ha e to say when they get the referral back from my GP.
This is not a rant at the wonderful staff or the healthcare system but it does show there are issues that are made to be so due to wanting to do it the easy or thr cheap way sometimes in my book.
Stay tuned for the next exciting installment of my troubles
Good Morning Simon. I think it all comes down to cost when comparing a flexi with a rigid under GA. I know it can be difficult to go through these procedures. I have had numerous over the years. I can tolerate them but always a bit uncomfortable. I hope you can get some help to get through the next one. Best wishes.
Hi Simon,
This seems like you're about to be in a loop. Has anyone ever mentioned CBT? It's not that the problem is all in your mind, I'm sure it isn't, but when we are tensed up invasive stuff can be more painful. So learning a way to counter the tension might be useful. Worth a try, anyhow?
I suggest you see if there is anything on the Macmillan site about it or if there is a Maggie's centre or similar nearby.
Hope you find something to help you.
All the best
