I expect to start radiotherapy probably towaard end of November. My 4th cycle of chemo e mo finishes on the 30th September. Any survival tips or general information would be much appreciated about radiotherapy .
Hi Lyn_H26 . Good to know your treatment is progressing. I had similar treatment which has so far been good to me. Recently had a clear flexi. You should have a planning meeting first. This takes half an hour or so. A couple of tiny dot tattoos to line things up and then numerous images taken from different angles. All painless, you just have to lie there. I had six weeks of daily RT and didn't really have a problem with it. I could carry on with a normal social life. I believe the latest protocol is now 4 weeks with a slightly higher dose. Each treatment takes about 15 minutes and is painless, but there is usually a lot of waiting around so take some snacks and drinks. My RT unit had a nice tea bar where I had a tea and toasted tea cake while waiting. The men usually just have to drop their trousers and lower their undies but keeping things covered. I believe the ladies put a gown on. You see many of the same people each day and these places are usually very sociable. Tiredness does creep up on you as you go forward. I was transported each day by hospital transport which was arranged for me at the planning meeting. The main advice is to keep up with fluid intake. I hope it goes well for you. Best wishes.
