Hi everyone,
Just had radical cystectomy hysterectomy and removal of many lymph nodes. I’m now 1 week post surgery and developed ileus yesterday. I’m doing fine with my ileostomy my drains are still draining a lot of blood but my surgeon says this is because I had to get a lot of lymph nodes removed anyway.
I also have an infection I’m on IV antibiotics and I’ve been nauseated. I had been trying to eat soft diet but yesterday I vomited 3 large green bile vomits so I’m now on IV fluids and medications and only sips water allowed.
Just asking for what helped anyone here on getting over this. The drs have said ileus is very common after major surgery.
Hi FiM, so sorry to hear you have developed problems after your surgery. It is very early days so I'm hoping things will settle down so for you. Cystectomy is not my experience so can't offer any advice but there are many of our site members who have had a range of issues post surgery so hoping one will pop along soon to share what has happened to them. Sending you lots of love and hoping you will find as many ways to be kind to yourself and distract you from anxiety as possible. Big hugs Hxx
