Catheter and BCG

Hi Barneybear, I'm wondering if your dad has a Cancer Nurse Specialist allocated? If so they should be able to answer your questions. I could phone mine any weekday in working hours and she always returned my call asap. I had the full protocol of 27 BCG doses over almost 4 years. The first dose I had to stay in the hospital for the 2 hour holding period before using the toilet so they could check my initial reactions. After that I could go home immediately after dose administered (through a fine catheter, immediately removed) then drive home for 1 hour and watch junk tv for the second hour. Then you can use lavatory pouring bleach down afterwards. In your dad's case with a full time catheter I am imagining you just empty bag and follow up with bleach but I have no experience to back that on. Frequently it was my Cancer Nurse Specialist who inserted BCG at appointments so I could raise any issues which I needed help with. Just to reassure I started my treatment in 2017 and after quite a few reoccurrences I have now been all clear for 5 years. Good luck to your dad. Love Hx
