Hi Layeney, I had at least 5 TURBTs with only the last one, after my final 27th BCG dose, all clear. Since then 5 years of all-clear flexis, first 6 monthly and now annual for past two years. I'm afraid you can never be sure there won't be a reoccurrence, just live for the day and hope for the best. Sending you both best wishes Hx
Hi Layeney . Similar to H. I had two initial TURBTS. A further one to check how things were after treatment finished. Then several more over the years which all turned out to be false alarms. I had radiotherapy which leaves scarring which can look like recurrences, so they were just playing it safe. Thankfully the follow ups were straightforward and I was usually in and out in several hours with little after effects. Best wishes.
It varies a lot, depending on stage & grade & treatment. My brother had low grade superficial, multiple TURBT over a few years, then eventually discharged. I had 2 at the beginning to confirm stage & grade, then another to assess feasibility for surgery. A last one after bladder removal & neo to assess why i was having difficulty voiding.
