Hi, my first post following my TURBT on 8th April 2026 where a non-muscle invasive papiliary tumor was removed and mitomycin via a catheter. To be honest my mind has been all over the place since first diagnosed and it has been a real whirlwind and sudden change to life. But I am sure things will settle down and having read so many positive posts on here gives plenty of hope for a return to normal life. It was really out of the blue as I had what I thought was a urine infection but tests via the GP raised red flags as no infection was present and before I know it I am in hospital within the month. I am in awe of the pace of action by the nhs.
I expected post surgical bleeding as that’s what all the literature describes but my experience is not what I expected to see. My urine has been very clear, though I am drinking plenty of water which has probably been good. However, when I finish urinating I then get a small amount of blood that passes from the urethra each time and burning sensation which now has reduced to very mild. I just wasn’t expecting the blood to be when I have finished passing very clear wee. Though it doesn’t seem to be very much blood
I just wondered if anyone else experienced post urination blood
thank you
Ron
Hi Ronh . It is not uncommon to see small amounts of blood following a TURBT. Bear in mind it is a wound. You are right to drink lots of water to keep things flushed out. Something they do not usually tell you is that about the two week mark, the scab on the wound starts to break away as part of the normal healing process so you may see some more blood and small clots passing. As always, if things do not get better or get worse, then seek medical advice. Best wishes.
Hi Ron, it sounds like you've got through everything very well indeed. Glad the treatment has all been so prompt, it's often waiting around that causes the most stress. it's still very recent after the TURBT so some residual bleeding while healing seems pretty much normal. to me. But I am not a medic, so if you are at all concerned you could phone the urology department maybe? I'm guessing the hospital will be calling you for a further appointment when they will give you the biopsy results. In my NHS experience these results take at least 2 weeks to come through and be discussed by the multidisciplinary team, so the consultant you see will be able to offer you treatment options. Until then distraction is the best policy. In my house this means easy-watch tele, and top quality cake. Sending you best wishes. Let us know how things go? Love Hx
Just home. One little winner. Very satisfying picking your money from the bookies. Really good day though with great atmosphere. Best wishes.
