hi just got a text from my GP were having free cancer Awareness event to learn about bowel cancer screening symptoms and lifestyle tips Does any other GP do this
Well prevention is better than the cure and people often won't go and ask for a simple faecal test kit to get themselves checked out. Our doctors always have various things going on similar to that or some health drive trying to get people to do these things.
My dad died of bowel cancer and he was still young only 56, one of the most treatable cancers if caught early enough. However he never ever went to the docs for anything half the time.
When he collapsed at work he again did not tell anyone that his younger brother died of bowel cancer and was treated initially for 6 months for IBS.
Eventually it was found out it was BC and after lots of surgery and treatment he was in remission for 2 years, but he ended up with secondary cancer and that wasn't treatable.
My point having said all that is had he been treated properly for the correct disease from the very start he may well have still been here today.
It's the same with guys who don't go through docs to get their prostrate checked because of the stigma and embarrassment of it all.
And yes it's hereditary so I'm at risk too just like my dad and most of his family were. This is why it's so important to give medical histories even when not related to the issue, and getting these types of tests done and should be done a lot more and nor just when someone reaches a certain age like the rectal digit check that is only offered to men at 50 years old.

hi Simon when i had my second turbt the surgeon said to me that he wanted to put his finger up to feel my bladder with out my consent he couldn't do it i told you do what you have to get this sorted when i was telling my daughter she said the same as you that's why a lot of guys don't get there prostate checked sad really that so many have passed away from this and it could have been prevented
I've already had it done twice and I'm not 50 yet but thanks anyway
It's not pleasant that's for sure but needs must at times.
