Hi,

I am new to here. I was recently diagnosed with. TA G1 2cm tumour which was removed by TURBT and I. Situ mytocytin,  on 17/11. Only symptom was few episodes of blood in urine.

i just have a few things on my mind, be great if anyone can help.

Would appears this was a good outcome as was caught early, next cystoscope is due in February.,

The only thing I find myself wondering is whether it’s going to come back, does anyone know the likelihood of a recurrence?

also find that I can go to the loo first thing in the morning, but within 5 mins I need to go again, will that die down in time?

Am non smoker, active, eat healthy and no family history, so diagnosis was a bit of a shock tbh.

thank you

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to this friendly and supportive group. Sorry to hear you have been diagnosed with BC but good to know it was caught early and you have had a TURBT. The positive is that if you are having no treatment other than surveillance this is a good thing. Unfortunately BC has a high rate of recurrence and some people are more prone to it than others. This is why we are monitored regularly and any recurrences can be dealt with early. Frequent urination is common after a TURBT as it takes up to six weeks for the wound to heal. Even with frequent urination it is still recommended to drink plenty of water to clear any debris and keep things fresh. Lots of experiences here so  feel free to ask anything. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Hi Jsymiss,Welcome to our friendly group.I hope you will find it helpful and supportive.Best wishes Jane x

  • Many of us are in the dark about the cause for our BC. Good that you were investigated promptly.

Echo what rily says. Do be prepared for likely recurrences, but hopefully they will also be low grade and simply need removal. If all is well, the interval between checkups will probably increase. My brother had several years of that before eventually being clear long enough to be discharged. Hope all goes well for you.

  • Hi Jsymiss, sorry you've got the BC diagnosis but as you are aware your outcome is low grade and caught before it had done too much damage. My initial diagnosis was G2 T1 because despite 3 GP visits ref blood in urine, my doctor failed to refer speedily. I had BCG treatment but the cancer returned during first 3 years at least 4 times. Nonetheless here I am over 8 years since diagnosis, and all clear for 5 years. So yes BC does have a high rate of reoccurrence but there are also a wide range of successful treatments. I am sure your progress will be regularly monitored for some years ahead so keep drinking water to flush things out and try not to worry. Enjoy every day! Sending love Hx

  • Thank you so much for the replies!

You have confirmed what I have read, I just need to get my head in that place and be positive. Sounds like the treatments are good Thumbsup and will definitely keep hydrated! Thanks

  • It is good it's been caught early, very similar to my situation. But as for recurrences no one can really give you any meaningful answers. People can only really advise on their situation and everyone's situations even though somewhat similar can have very different outcomes.

I had a 1cm NMI tumour removed in July 24. Then had clear cystoscopy for a short while then sorne recurrences at another cystoscopy and then again some more recurrences, had 6 week course of Mitomycin and at my last check up had some more recurrences removed. I'm starting in jan on a different drug to try and stop the recurrences. My consultant said very low chance of recurrences at my first follow up after the initial tumour removal and I've had several removed  now since. It really is pot luck, you may well not have any recurrences as some don't and have plenty of clear checks ups.
