Good morning everyone i thought I would post what the outcome of my meeting with the oncologist yesterday it was all positive they have offered me chemoradiation any body else been through this who could please offer me any advice love to all Phil xx
Hi Phil, glad it was a positive meeting and you are feeling ok about their treatment suggestions. No experience myself but sure someone else will respond with some support soon. Enjoy a more relaxed weekend. Love Hx
Rictic . Morning Phil. Good to know you had a positive meeting . I had chemoradiation for my MIBC. Six weeks of daily treatment (Mon-Fri). I believe the latest protocol is 4 weeks with a heavier dose. Treatment is painless. You will go for a planning session which takes about half an hour . This is just to take images from different angles to pinpoint a target. They put tiny tattoo marks on hips and pubic area for reference. Daily treatment takes bout 15 minutes but there is usually a bit of waiting as appointments are rarely on time. I had a PICC line fitted for the chemo part. A chemo pump is fitted on weeks 1 and 4 (MMC/5FU). The drugs are administered so slowly over the week and doesn't have the same side effects as the one day big hits that you have had. I believe that most of the machines used today are more advanced and accurate than the clanky old ones I had ten years ago. I hope this helps. I currently still have a normal working bladder. Happy to try and answer any questions if I can. Best wishes.
