Hi

Have just finished 6 rounds of chemo for T3N2mo bladder cancer.

Although I know it can't be cured just wondering if anyone else has gone through this and what their next steps were. There talking about immunotherapy or radiation depending on scan results.

  • Hi  . I was T3  but no nodes involved. I also had 6 weeks of chemo (Gem/Cis). The chemo continues to work for a few weeks after treatment finishes so I had a bit of a wait for follow up. I then had several scans to see what effect it had had, Scans showed the tumour had reduced but still there. I was then offered the choice of bladder removal or chemoradiotherapy. I chose the latter and so far so good. Others here have chosen removal. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Thanks for your reply.never heard of chemo radiotherapy what does that involve. Is it as bad as chemo.

  • Hi  . I had six weeks of daily radiotherapy. The latest protocol is now 4 weeks. No real problems with that except some fatigue. On weeks 1 and 4, I had a chemo pump fixed 24/7. The chemo helps the RT to work better.  Kept in a pouch on my belt and administered via a PICC line. The chemo (MMC and 5FU) is infused so slowly over the week, it does not have the same effect as the one day big hits and didn't affect me at all. Best wishes.

  • What is Gem/Cis please? I am about to have 2 bladder tumours removed and once analysed I may have to make choices. I don't know what T3N2mo means either. All double-dutch to me. It would be so helpful to have these things in layman's terms if possible! Thanks all.. and good luck all round!

    1. N2 means the cancer is in more than 1 lymph node I  the pelvis.mo means cancer has not spread to other parts of the body.
    2. Gem Cis is 2 different types of chemotherapy.
    3. Hope all goes well for you.
    4. I found the mcmillan booklet understanding muscle invasive bladder cancer very useful.
  • Thank you so much. I must hunt down that booklet. Best of luck to you too. X

  • Hi  and welcome to the group although I see you are not new to the community. Gem/Cis (Gemcitabine and Cisplatin) is a chemotherapy treatment usually used for advanced bladder cancer. BC is classified using the TNM system as described by Scar above. Macmillan have prepared information on stage a grading if you click HERE . When you have the procedure to remove your tumours (TURBT), biopsies will be taken and sent for analysis. You will then have to wait a few weeks for results and the results determine the next step. Best wishes.
