Completed BCG Induction, but

Had my 6th induction BCG a week ago, have been coping quite well with the usual side effects, not sleeping, pain and swollen feet etc, but am still having to pee every couple of  hours or so during the day & night, (always worse for fist couple of days) this becomes a problem when I’m out walking the dog, to compound the problem I also have Crohns disease which pushes the anxiety levels up and make life very difficult some days.

we are due to go on holiday in the UK in a couple of weeks, the thought of being stuck in a traffic jam on the motorway is already causing anxiety attacks, any suggestions on how to calm my bladder’s reaction to a drink.

  • Hi Peter, its good to hear from you. well done getting the induction over with and a well deserved holiday on the horizon. I have been very lucky with mine in that i am on number 15 and now beginning to get prolonged effects, however urgency isnt too bad. I know there are others on here who experience that same as you. I thought as a precaution maybe you could maybe a)take a urinal in the car b) wear a kind of tena pants c) discuss it with your nurse specialist and see if the is any sort of medicine they prescribe. Hopefully if you have contingency in place it may reduce the anxiety about getting caught short. I hope you find a solution, I am sure someone will be along soon with more experience than i have. keep in touch and take care x

    Much love Angela x

  • Hi Peter,

Congrats on getting the induction out of the way, but sorry to hear that you are having issues.

I've hit the same issue after my 18th, my frequency and urgency now causes a fair bit of concern when going out.

I do expect to use the loo quite a bit as I drink so much water, which is fine it's just the urgency.

I've actually bought a wee bottle for the car, just in case.

I also plan my journeys a lot more. For example I'll lay off the water a while before leaving. I leave after rush hour etc. So far I've only driven 50 odd miles when I've gone away (as we're looking to move house)and have had a couple of options of roads to use if needed.

I will stop at a service station even if not needed.

I must admit my urgency is now starting to improve after a couple of months.

My last biopsy showed inflammation of the bladder which is pretty much how it works I believe, so I guess the ability to hold urine is reduced.

I still get worried about it and I'm off to see a band in June at a stadium and I'm a bit worried for sure

But I'll lay off the beer and drinks, go at every opportunity etc. it's not ideal.

    Wishing you all the best.
