I know it's late - I apologise! I have work tomorrow too - oh well!
Waiting on my lover's kidney CT and I don't think I've ever been so terrified in my life. I've got to perform in front on 29 little people tomorrow and I am crossing every thing that I can do this!
My husband is my life. I've been with him longer than I haven't and I am beyond scared. Nothing has importance any more. We know he has a mass in his bladder but we don't know what else is / could be lurking. I absolutely thank the heavens for the NHS and I know there are thousands of others waiting for test results, but I am being selfish - I want us to know now. If only the CT / imagers were trained to read the results - this would cut down on the anxiety! Sorry - inner thoughts being exposed!
Hi B2theC, just to say many of us are with you virtually here. Many many bladder cancers are treated successfully by a variety of means. My OH is now on 6 monthly checks and all have proved clear either immediately or after a bit more investigation. Btw as I have been with him 50 years, dating from 17 [me in the lower sixth!] , married at 20, I do get that side of things.
I take it you're a teacher? I was a TA for 16 years as well as a regular classroom volunteer before that when our own two were in primary. Just concentrate on your lesson plans and the kids, and you will find it's soon break, then lunch, then home time.
Do keep us posted,
Denby
Hi B2theC . CT scans ae usually too rule things out rather than rule things in. They also add to the picture of what is going on. If the scan is tomorrow, it is unlikely he will be told anything on the day. The images have to go away to be analysed and the results take a few weeks. I hope all goes well for you tomorrow looking after the young ones. Best wishes.
Dear B2theC,
Yes it's scary and yes it's horrible having to wait. And we all get how you are feeling. That's probably little comfort at the moment but sadly that's all we can give you. I just wanted to add my voice to the others.
Probably the CT scan operators do see and know what is on it but it has to be confirmed and properly interpreted to be useful for treatment.
You might even find that as you greet and deal with your pupils and help them to learn, that will help you to fill up the space before you can get the result.
Sometimes we want something good to happen like Christmas, more often, once we're adults, we fear what we might learn. Who was it who said or sang 'wishing don't make it so?
Put on your calm face and perhaps that will give you the courage to cope with the kids and the worry. I hope so. And by the time the results arrive you and your husband will have jointly worked out what you are facing.
At that point we can tell you how we got through it and that may help too. But keep posting if you need to, or try the Macmillan helpline if you need a friendly voice.
All the best,
Latestart
