I have been in touch with my cns nurse today gave me my ct urogram results wich were thankfully ok no concerns but when I asked about my mri which I had in February the results she wouldn't tell me i had turbt procedure on Friday biopsies taken said i had to wait for mdt meeting and appointment with the consultant iam uptight now worrying in case the cancer has spread. Phil.

  • Hi, it's understandable that you are worried, but try not read too much into it. There are all sorts of reasons why the CNS  might not be able to tell you the MRI result, and by itself, it might not be very informative. It is just one of the raft of tests used to give the medics a clear picture of the situation. The MDT meeting will look at all the results (including from TURBT) and make a recommendation for treatment. We are all familiar with the wait to find out what happens next. Try to distract yourself in the meantime. Best wishes.

  • Hi Rictic, we all understand that ghastly anxiety waiting for results. I guess you'll have to wait about 2 weeks for the biopsy results. All you can do is try to put it to the back of your mind and focus on the good stuff in your life. At least any growths you had previously have now been removed by the TURBT. My distraction strategy is to watch junk tv and eat cake. I'll have my fingers crossed for you. Keep us posted? Love Hx

  • Thank so much for your help but you are right about the waiting no nails left take care Phil.

  • Hi Phil,It would be unlikely that your nurse would tell you until you see the consultant. She will probably be present at that appointment. The wait is awful and we can all empathise as we have all been there. The situation will be better once you see the consultant and have a plan for treatment.Jane x

  • Thank you so much not a  big fan of cake but stilton cheese or as my grandson calls it mucky cheese is  my guilty pleasure best get some in Smiley Phil x

  • Hi Jane thanks for your message  iam going to put it at the back of my mind take care Phil x

  • Hang in there Phil, the waiting is dreadful and you only had your TURBT on Friday so you are still recovering from the surgery. Be kind to yourself and take it easy...one day at a time.

    Love Ade xx

  • As a general rule bad news is given with urgency usually, if no rush to give you news then it's usually not something that needs addressing right away. So try and think ofittle.nees as hopefully good.news.

As said results will be explained to you by the team looking after you aka the surgeon and a cancer nurse usually.

The waiting for results of awful but try to think positive and try not to worry or panic until you have some clear answers, at least then you know what you are dealing with and what to expect.

I had a TURBT last July for a 1cm tumour that was confined to the bladder lining. On a follow up I had a small recurrence washed away with water irrigation in my anterior urethra , but again I was told by the surgeon it's nothing to worry about and just to continue as we are with the 3 monthly check ups.

It is a scary time of that we all know that, but it's also not all doom and gloom either, bladder cancer is one of the more treatable and even curable of the cancers as well.

The problem is we all hear that word and think the very worst, sometimes it sadly is that bad but often it's also not.
