Hi All , nearly 6 months post op and at last starting to feel much better . So much so that maybe just maybe we might visit family in New Zealand for Christmas . Was wondering if any of you had info as which insurance company might be best to use . Already had a quote for 2 of us at £1000 , does this seem reasonable? Thanks in advance.

Hi Quarry . Good to know your recovery is going well and you are looking forward to a holiday. No personal recommendations myself but you may like to browse through the Travel Insurance Recommendation forum . Hopefully someone here may have some ideas. One thing we have learned though is to talk to the brokers direct rather than just online, in order to not leave any loopholes. Keep us posted on how you get on. Best wishes.
Morning Quarry, sounds like a great trip to visit family. My circumstances are slightly different to yours. But I get travel insurance OK. Moreover , SIL had major operations to relieve pancreatic cancer and has managed to get travel insurance (Europe) even though she has recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Great advice from Rily. Try these search engines. Paying too Much Holiday Insurance Or Good to go Travel Insurance. Have a great trip. Garviv

Morning Garviv, thanks for the advice . I’m checking if there is receptive medical arrangements in NZ for UK personal . I know there is a cost but it might be cheaper than insurance ? Need to get my blood pressure down after watching the golf last night . Hope Rory can cope with the crowd and the chasing pack .
I did a long haul to Japan, 8 months after RC. Cost for insurance 12 years ago was about £300, even today, £1000 sounds a bit much. At the time I did a lot of research & used insurancewith.com, who I've gone back to many times. They have a sensible online questionnaire to cover medical conditions and medications. As time has gone on, and risk reduced, extra cost is small.
Definitely worth having cover for peace of mind. If you don't declare conditions and something occurs, even if not directly related, the insurers might quibble. Hope you have a great trip!
