Hello, finally our Sister in Law had her consultation at the memory clinic today following her brain scan and memory assessments. She has been diagnosed with Stage 1 Alzheimer’s disease. It is so sad to see her distressed with the news after her battle with pancreatic cancer. Rest assured all the family will rally round to give her all the love and support she will need. Garviv.
Hi Garviv, I'm so sorry to hear your SIL's diagnosis. Perhaps they will be able to prescribe something to slow progess of disease. I think I have recently read about new treatment developments. I lost a friend to Alzheimer's last year. It was almost 10 years after her initial diagnosis which we certainly didn't predict. Like living with cancer all we could do was take one day at a time and try to grab every moment of joy. Glad she has your loving family about her. Hx
Hi Garviv,I’m so sorry that it’s Alzheimer’s.You have the answers but it’s horrible news.I hope there will be some medication that can help. There have been advances in treatment.I’m glad that your sister in law will have the support of you and your family. That will be so important.I cared for mum who had vascular dementia and Alzheimer’s she had it for 8 or 9 years.Love Jane xx
So sorry to hear your sisters news Garviv, Alzheimer's is indiscriminate and a very ugly disease.
Lots of love to you both and just be there for her and take things one day at a time I guess.
Life does indeed have a habit of kicking people in the spuds sadly.

Much love and hope to everyone past future and present.
I also hate autocorrect and hope people can make sense out of my posts when it changes half the words I type.
Morning H Thank you for your kind words. Exactly what I was thinking after her pancreatic cancer to have this diagnosis is unbelievable. She is going to be given some form of medication which I understand only controls the Alzheimer’s nothing more. My BIL will find it difficult to cope. He likes to be the centre of attention but Mrs Garviv and I will step in and support SIL whatever that takes. Garviv x

Thank you Angela for your kind words and thoughts. When I got diagnosed with BC all that time ago I never realised I would find new friends. In this difficult time it is wonderful to have the support of friends from this group. Mrs Garviv and I will be her anchor as I fear my BIL will not cope alone. Have a nice weekend love Garviv
