My 20 year old son recently finished his 6 weeks course of bcg treatment 3 weeks ago . He’s just started work again but he’s very fatigue and feels like he’s hurting all over has anyone felt like this after 3 weeks on after finishing the treatment.
Hi there, so sorry to hear your son has needed BCG treatment when he is so young xxx We all seem to experience different after effects. No medical knowledge but I guess he might be feeling the efforts of his young fit immune system triggered into attack against the BCG virus in the bladder, incidentally wiping out cancer cells (we hope!). Obviously that is the result we want but it can make you feel exhausted, flu-like, have a very very sensitive bladder. I think I got a 3 month break after my initial 6 doses which I came to view as my "treatment holiday" and I focussed on doing things I enjoyed. Luckily had already retired and I think your son must be kind to himself about how much he works etc. Maybe discuss with his GP? He needs all his energy to get well. Sending love H x
Hi hope your son is feeling better.. from listening to shared experiences on this forum how we feel after BCG from the initial six the on going feeling of fatigue for a few weeks after treatment has finished is not unusual but worth checking urine as it can also be an early sign of infection which will need antibiotics.

Hi MyBoy, I am sorry to hear about your young lad going through this. I hope he tolerated the BCG well and it didnt give him too many side effects. I agree with what the others have said and also, if he has been given a specialist cancer nurse , it may be worth ringing her/him to have a chat to put your mind at rest. Often when you ring these numbers it will go to answer machine , usually because they are busy in a clinic. However they will ring you back . I hope his symptoms pass off soon. How is he coping with the whole thing ?
Much love Angela x
