I'm really not doing well these last couple of days so emotional feel so alone and scared . I've got my petscan sat and nervous about this. And what's playing on my mind is how long they leaving me without treatment plan its been 8wks now since I was diagnosed and scares me .

  • Hi

I think it’s natural to worry about the time everything seems to take as you’re going through this process and we worry about things potentially getting worse while we wait. However, it’s important to have all the tests completed and the petscan is just part of the process.

My father in law was diagnosed with his bladder and prostate cancer in the February and had nothing done until the September as he had multiple appointments with cardiology due to a heart issue-just to make sure he was going to get the right treatment, and plans for chemo did have to be changed because of his heart condition. However, even after all those months his surgery went ahead and was successful.

Have you got any support network of family and friends around you? it might help to have company and try to get out and about even to meet friends for a coffee to try to take your mind off things.

  • Hi wilkie

Iam so sorry you are feeling that way but I can understand were your coming from. The pet scan is just like a ct scan it's much the same process just takes a bit longer. It gives the radiologist a better image of what's going on. From there they can better decide the treatment plan. Please don't feel you are alone and don't be nervous about Saturday this is part of your process. We are always here to help and support you through this journey

I'll be thinking about on Saturday and let us know how you got on.

Best wishes wilkie and your never alone

  • I’m sorry you are feeling scared.Try not to worry about the scan and think of it as part of getting you well again. It is scary at the start of being diagnosed but you will feel better mentally once you know more about treatment.Keep posting we do understand your fear. These early days are not easy but you will get through them.Love Jane xx

  • This group is lovely for that bit of extra support-everyone will do their best to help you and keep you going. Just got to hang in there and try to manage the waiting but I think we all completely understand how hard it is.

  • I was scared when I joined this group but was helped enormously by all the support. It’s good to be able to help others now.

  • Hi Jane

Your absolutely spot on. Iam only starting out on this journey, still at chemotherapy stage but it's good to get other peoples perspectives and offer what advice I can. I was reading all the posts yesterday on the night bag and I wouldn't have known about any of that until the hospital stage. The forum is like a super computer churning out advice and info all the time

    Best wishes

  • Hi Mark

Everyone is happy to help with all sorts of different things, and the good thing is being able to read about the experiences of others who have gone through something similar.
