Sorry think I’ve posted on the general forum (again) I was wondering if anyone else has been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease stage II?
If you look at the eGFR thread, you will see that several of us who have had bladder removed have low readings consistent with grade 3 kidney disease. Our various consultants seem to deem this to be acceptable.
I'm not sure how relevant Grade 2 is to BCG or other treatments, but I know kidney function needs to be good to cope with (whole body) chemotherapy. Sounds like something to discuss with the consultant. Best wishes.
Hi Marc,
Sorry to hear of your diagnosis.
Coming up to three years ago i was diagnosed with a 90mm tumour on my right kidney and a 42mm tumour in my bladder.
The three months after my diagnosis, which was a complete shock to me, everything came at me fast. The tumour in my bladder was removed. Then about 6 weeks later they removed my right kidney (called a nephrectomy). I have been treated superbly by the NHS and i am so proud of all the staff for the treatment i have had.
It's been a journey that is still ongoing only in as much as i have a ct scan every year and a flexible cystoscopy every 6 months. I've been very lucky within my bad luck in that i've only had a couple of small reoccurrences of micro spots of cancer in my bladder that were easily dealt with by laser.
Cheers for now...Del.
Hi Marc, I was diagnosed stage III back in 2012, but didn't find out until we changed GP when the old one retired! Imagine, all those years with no advice as to how I should treat my failing kidneys, appalling. Anyway, once I found out what I needed to do, subsequent exams have shown that my kidney function remains steady at around 50 to 54, so all good rally. However, it has caused me to wonder whether the original 'CKD' could have led to my Bladder Cancer diagnosis in July 2023 :-( At least nowadays I get to check my kidney content in detail when I empty the overnight collection bag on my Uro Stoma :-)
