Hi friends, I had another biopsy on Monday following BCG's 7.8,9 in September as part of the maintenance plan. The initial feedback afterwards from the consultant was that it went well and bladder looked clear and it will take a couple of weeks for the biopsy results. My diagnosis is T1G3 and CIS, so I was relieved to hear it was clear as thats half the battle. However, she informed me that I need to have an MRI on my prostate as following the Digital rectal examination it is now firm and bulky right lobe. I now realise that cancer of the prostate is defintely a possibility and as you can imagine, I am devatsted. I am one year into my bladder cancer journey and thought I was making good progress and managing it well and now there is this curve ball. I have just found out my MRI isn't until December 22nd which means I have to wait until after Christmas for results, so as you can imagine this is a real set back which I am finding difficult.
Frank
Hi Frank. It sounds like possible good news on the bladder front, but sorry to hear the setback with your prostate. I see you have had some good advice from the guys in the prostate group. I hope all goes well with the MRI. The timing never seems right for these things, but hopefully you can put your worries on hold over Christmas when waiting for results. Best wishes.
Hello Frank, that was not the news you hoped for, but at least your bladder looks clear. I think that sounds bigger than half the battle! You are making good progress but the road is long. I have had many bladder cancer reoccurrences but kept going with BCG. It is now 7 years since my diagnosis and I'm delighted to say I am still alive. I wonder if your allocated nurse (CNS) could help you get feedback quicker? Otherwise you just have to breath, relax, enjoy every moment of Christmas and cross your fingers. Best wishes Hx
Hi Frank, im sorry to hear you are going through this…After my BCG 6 I had my biopsy done. The surgeon came out to me after and told me that the bladder looked clear but there was a couple of nodules on my Prostate but he’s not worried about it.
i had an MRI and blood test…after those results came back I was told I needed to have biopsies done on the prostate…
Had those done and results were some inflammation possibly due to the BCG treatment..im due another blood test and MRI in six months time…I know how your feeling, and I hope it’s nothing more than a bit of inflammation…
Nigel xx
Hi Frank, waiting for any results is always very hard, but over Christmas especially so. It's good to hear that your Consultant was happy with your bladder, let's hope that the prostate issue is just inflammation from BCG.
Sending you and your loved ones all my best wishes.
Love Ade xx
Thanks Nigel, that’s really helpful. It hasn’t occurred to me that the concern with my prostate could potentially be linked to the BCG treatment. We all know what a rollercoaster of a journey this is and I’m currently enduring that awful stage of having to wait for results to find out what’s going to happen next and it’s stressful but I’m trying to stay positive and focussed.
