TURBT

Hi everyone.

I had my TURBT on 12th July.  The surgeon didn't remove all of the tumour due to excessive bleeding and theatre time.

I have a catheter for 2 weeks. The only good thing with that is not having to get up several times during the night for a wee.

I've been put on antibiotics as they think because my white blood cells count is high, that I have an infection.

Results will be back 2 to 4 weeks.  Worrying times.

  • Hi Hollie32, I hope it all goes well with the results, fingers crossed. Leo

  • Thank you Leo.

  • The wait for results is often the worst part, but after they come back they can get a treatment plan in place for you. Things then should be easier. Leo

  • Hi Hollie,

Welcome to the group, but sorry to hear about your issues with your TURBT.

The waiting is incredibly worrying for sure, but wishing you all the best and hopefully you will get your results back sooner rather than later.

Take care, and keep us posted.

  • Hi Hollie,Welcome to the group.I hope you will find it helpful and supportive. The waiting is hard but it does feel easier once you get the treatment plan.Best wishes for your results.Love Jane

  • Thank you Jane.

Im finding that the  group is very informative.

  • That’s good.It is a supportive group and feel free to ask any questions. There is usually someone around with the relevant experience to answer. This first stage is unsettling waiting for results. It’s common to have a second TURBT some weeks after the first.Biopsy results will confirm the stage and grade of cancer and then a medical team  will meet to come up with a plan of treatment for you.Have you had a scan yet ?
