What's normal?

I'm very slowly coming to terms that I am dying from my cancer.  Following 5 cycles of treatment (they offered me 6 but I couldn't tolerate any more treatment as I felt so ill) and a CT scan, I have been told that the chemo has had little effect on the tumour in my bladder, the best they could say was that there was no disease progression.  The oncologist told me to go out and enjoy life which I am trying to do.  I have an appointment to see them again in November and have been told I can contact them for an earlier appointment if I feel unwell.  BUT what is unwell and not normal.

My symptoms include a bloating feeling around my bladder, very frequent urination (somewhere between every 20  - 60 minutes day and night) and I'm experiencing some lower back pain (but I do have mild osteo-arthritis in my spine so this could be the cause of this).  I also find myself getting very tired, very easily.  I am also quite low emotionally and the fact that I'm experiencing some urinary incontinence isn't helping.  I have invested in incontinence pants and pads which is helping somewhat.  Is this normal?  Is it just what I should expect given my condition?  Should I contact them?  Any advice would be gratefully received.

  • Hello  . Sorry to hear of your situation. Not surprising you are feeling tired after what you have been through and the tiredness adds to the emotional side of things. A positive is there has been no progression. Your appointment in November seems a long way off, but we know things don't tend to move swiftly. I hope things go well for you. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.
