Hi everyone,
Following my Cystoscopy 8 days ago, I was told an Urgentvreferral would be put in for a CT Scan and then Turbt surgery.
I know waiting times are different, depending on what area you live in, but can any of you tell me of your own experiences. How long did you have to wait from Cystoscopy, showing tumours, to treatment starting.
I feel so anxious today
Kind regards
Jane
Hi JS . I think the word urgent means different to the hospitals than it does to us. I waited nearly 2 months for my first TURBT. You should get an appointment for a pre op assessment first and then the op should follow shortly afterwards. Different departments do not talk to each other, so do not read too much in timings of scans etc. I know how anxious the waiting can be. I remember waiting for the postman each day, only to see him keep walking past. Once things get under way, you just go with the flow. Best wishes.
Hi Jane, my husband had a flexible cystoscopy 6th May 2022 when they said there was a problem and he would have to go to main hospital for another appointment, we didn’t know what this was but it turned out to be a TURBT, he had an appointment on 29th June and started BCG on 9th September, we live in Norfolk and main hospital is the N&N in Norwich.
It takes a few weeks before they get back to you with a diagnosis and treatment plan, it’s hard just waiting and not knowing.
it can all be a bit daunting, if there’s anything you don’t understand or you just need a shoulder there are some pretty amazing people on here who are happy to help.
Jean.
Hi JS if you have a look at my profile it gives dates from start , 1st flexi-cystoscopy till now and my treatment plan. The waiting is awful . I would go from positive thinking to doom in a heart beat at first diagnosis. It has become a little calmer now i have started treatment . Very best of luck to you, keep in touch . This forum is so so helpful. Much love Angela x

Hi Jane, my first Turbt was about a month after the scan. In general I don't think waiting a few weeks causes the medics concern though we all struggle with the waiting. Now you are in the system, all you can do is try to relax and trust in the NHS. Mostly they don't let us down.x
Hi Jane
I’m thinking of you and really rooting for you!
Hope all goes well and that it will be a short wait.
You have had such a gruelling time and deserve a break!
Love and prayers

Hi Jane,Last time I waited 8 weeks but you may be seen quicker as you are marked as urgent.Once you have the pre-op assessment the TURBT is not usually too long afterwards. The pre op is straightforward, just a few medical checks and questions to make sure you are fit enough for the anaesthetic.Fingers crossed you don’t have to wait too long.Love Jane xx
