Hello Everyone,
Arrived at Preston Royal Hospital this morning at 7.00am ready for my TURBT. So many people waiting at registration desk. After sitting in the waiting area for 60 minutes I was taken to a side ward for BP and Oxygen test all OK. Returned to waiting area and had to wait a further 30 minutes before the anaesthetist arrived to whisk me away to discuss anaesthetic and mini Pre Op. Returned to waiting area again and finally spoke to surgeon who explained the procedure and signed consent form. Back to waiting area. Finally taken to side ward at 12.30 ready for theatre. I got past half way mark of my Val Mcdermid book at 2.00 pm. The Nurse informed me surgery was very busy with two new patients bumped into my space. I was allowed a small cup of water at 2.30 pm with a view of a 4.30 pm theatre spot. I was preparing to have my TURBT at 4.30 pm and transfer to Ward 11 to recover and stay the night. 5.00 pm procedure cancelled. Given a lovely and welcoming cup of tea before going home. 10 hours sat waiting but it is what it is. Nobody’s fault! Have to wait for new appointment now. Garviv
Oh . What a bummer. Cancellations are bad enough, but waiting all that time must have been awful. I hope you get a new date soon. Best wishes.
Hi Garviv...such a torturous day and ghastly wait for your first cup of tea! I'd find that the worst agony Hope they call you in again soon. Hx
Hello Garviv, that is so frustrating. You psyche yourself up for the op and at the last minute have the rug whipped away beneath your feet. I know you have to be philosophical about it all because it will get completed. Hopefully you will get a new date soon and it will go well for you.
Take care
Omg! That is so so disappointing and frustrating. Hope you can be seen again soon. Good luck

Oh that's awful, poor you such a long wasted day, you seem to take it all in good spirit, I m like herotothegod, It would be waiting for that cup of tea that upset me. Hope it's not too long before you get 'bumped into' another slot. Best wishes
Thanks Bumblebee, Yes disappointed but spoke to Hospital yesterday to get another appointment ASAP. Fingers crossed. Garviv
