Good evening all,

I had a TURBT procedure to remove a 3cm bladder tumor followed by immediate Mitomycin C installation about 4 weeks ago, I still have a bit of stinging when I pass water however nothing unbearable. I was told to expect to see scabs as the wound heals, however at this time I have seen no scabs in my water...is this common or a sign that wound hasn’t healed properly?

My second questions is how long can you expect to wait for pathology results after a TURBT?

Many thanks,

Darren

  • I waited for about 2 and a half weeks for mine.

  • Hi Darren. It takes about 10 days for the biopsies to be processed, but then there is a longer wait for an available appointment to discuss things. Usually anything between 2-4 weeks depending on any backlogs. Not everyone notices the scabs breaking up so try not to worry about that. I hope all goes well with results. We know how anxious the waiting can be. Be wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Thanks Rily…the waiting game is the worst part of the process.

  • I didn't have any scabs or debris after my TURBT, but bladder stayed very irritated. I had a second TURBT to confirm stage & grade, when they removed some dead tissue & I was more comfortable after that.

  • Hi Darren. I had my TURBT on 06/10/22. I have not seen any “scabs” in my urine. However I’m not sure what the medics mean exactly when they say scabs in this instance. I understand what a scab is on a healing wound on the outside of my body but I’m not sure what that would be like on the inside. I test my urine once a week for blood and over the last four weeks there has been times when there has been small visible “bits” which seemed a bit unusual and I guess that could be something produced during the healing process. Good luck.
