Hi new on here any advice would be welcome my partner he is 72 had TURBT seven weeks ago and on occasion passes clots the urology nurse said it is probably scabs coming away, Ihe had a 3cm tumour removed non muscle invasive but was told that he will have to have another TURBT after a closer look at his MRI scan by another urologist he thinks there are  suspect cells and the cancer is grade 2 that was removed, his urine is clear but as I said passes clots on occasion  has this happened to anyone also what treatment is given for non muscle invasive grade 2 bladder cancer ...thank you

  • Hi and welcome to the group, although sorry to hear your partner is going through bladder cancer. A TURBT wound normally heals within 6 weeks but can take longer. It is usual to pass tiny clots as the scabs break away and it can be quite scary when it happens. It is very important that your partner drinks plenty of water to keep things flushed out and prevent any blockages.

A follow up rigid cystoscopy is standard, so don't read too much in to that. It gives them a chance to mop up anything they may have missed, and the biopsy gives them a more accurate diagnosis of stage and grade in order to determine the next step. The most common treatment for NIBC is a course of BCG (Bacillus Calmette-Guerin). This is an immunotherapy treatment instilled directly in to the bladder usually once a week. There are alternative treatments to this and all depends on biopsy results. I hope all goes well. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.
