A big hi to the Group.
I don't know if anyone is privy to information on BCG. Is there a restriction on doses at present in the NHS .
Having had 9 treatments and due shortly to start on 10 to 12 , but now hear that there maybe restrictions on this type of treatment. Any experiences anyone ?
Hi Gordon101, I understand that the guidelines have changed ref number of doses, because of the damage BCG can cause to the bladder. I started my treatment in 2018 expecting the protocol was 27 doses, but at dose 18 on basis of latest research, my team asked me if I wanted to stop. Because I was still getting fairly frequent reoccurrences I decided to go the whole course, though I have to say last time I saw the inside of my bladder at cystoscopy I was shocked at how scarred it was. However I have now gone over a year all clear so it all feels worth it. I believe the reduction of number of doses is also happening in Europe and the USA (although the USA seem to also be experiencing a shortage, which is a separate issue.) Best wishes H
