  • I suspect it's the sponsors that you need to thank.

Maggies are a great help to those in distress, but they do strictly follow the 30 year out of date NHS lines for cancer patients. They will shut down any talk of diet changes, non NHS clinics. We stopped visiting after hearing the platitudes they gave to a very upset lady just given a bad diagnoses. Much like the admins of this site. There is a huge amount you can do to help your cancer treatment.

  • Hello Rily, what is Maggies? Garviv

  • Thanks for your personal experience. I radically changed my diet as soon as i was diagnosed..and still try to stick to it now. No booze. Minimal sugar. Organic veg..no processed foods..no more fry-ups..my biggest loss. Maybe fruitless but worth a try.

The ladies in maggies do offer a kind ear though. Cheers

  • Hi Bluepanther, good to hear you are serious about lifestyle changes. I’m 5 years past my RC, with no negative issues thus far . I took it upon myself to make many changes in my lifestyle, mostly eating habits. I have not become a monk but these are some of the changes I have made. I’ve become a serious intermittent faster, I’m still working as a contractor even though I’m 70. 5 days a week I only eat one meal (supper) no food or drink other than black coffee , tea and loads of water until then with a few treats while watching tv in the evening but nothing else. Sat. and Sun. I eat what ever whenever. I go to the gym often. I would not give up on fruit especially dark berries , although they contain sugar , it metabolizes differently and the benefits far outweigh the negatives. I make a 24 ounce smoothie that I drink with dinner made from the following items..... -  2 cups dark berries ,  1 cup pure pomegranate juice ( no added sugar) , 1 cup almond milk  , 1 table spoon coconut oil , 1 table spoon of pure maple sirup , protein powder and the following 3 are the most important   .....                   - 1 table spoon of Amla powder    ,   -  1 tablespoon of broccoli “ sprout” powder. ,  -  1/2 tablespoon of cur-cumin                 Blend it and voila. I urge you to research the last three items , their active ingredients and how they can impact carcinogenisis .

Since starting this regime 4 years ago my weight has returned to that of my university rowing days, my blood pressure sits around 106/68 at rest, my A1C has dropped and sits at 4.8 , and the inflammatory markers in my blood are negligible.

I’m no doctor, my GP got me onto fasting 4 years ago, Victor Longo turned me on to Amla ( 200 times stronger antioxidant than blueberries) , and the rest just from reading ALOT. Take this for what it’s worth . Orillia.

  • oops.... sorry forgot the 2 tablespoons of chia seeds and 1 table spoon of ground flax seed in the smoothie.

  • Thats a good diet change. I have gone full Paleo diet plus low GI. This blocks several pathways that cancer cells use to feed. I do a mini fast daily from 5pm to 9am next day. I walk after every meal  Everything organic, zero processed sugar. I get xylitol on Amazon if needed. Someone mentioned pomegranate juice. This is really good for you, but the juice must come from fresh squeezed pomegranate. Pomegranate Fruit juices don't have an important constituent as it's lost in processing.

  • Oh i also have an abc smoothly every morning. Apple. Beetroot. Carrot..and a dash of lemon
