For some of you that have seen my posts previously, you will know how much golf plays a major part in what I do. So I'm very happy to be able to report that after several years of being a player, but not really very competitive largely due to the medical issues of the last 3 years. I much to my own surprise but delight, managed to win another trophy this week.

OK it was one of our Society one day only competitions, so the player having the best round on that particular day takes the prize. Thanks to my handicap, which is much higher than I would like, but reasonably reflective of my current level of incompetence, I managed to win with a 1 over par score of 35 Stableford points. In medal terms, thats a 73 after h/cap deduction. So absolutely made up, as never thought that this could happen for me again, after soo long in the wilderness of being an also ran.

I can now go to meet my fate, which is more than likely a losing battle with a cancer that just won't leave me alone, with at least another achievement to add to my previous battle honours. Now i have to see if I am still around, or able to defend the trophy next year? Not too sure about that, but I'll give it a shot!

2nd session of the Immunotherapy next week, so we will see whether this is having any benefit.in a few weeks time, Meanwhile got another round of a best 4 cards out of 6 tomorrow, in which I am also in contention, so need another really good day to sustain my challenge for even greater success.  .

  • Hi KB. Congrats on your win. I have never been a club member, but have played with my boys for many years . My company had an annual tournament every rear and we played many good courses. I hope your Immuno goes well and you have many future years of swinging. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Excellent.I’m full of admiration for how soon you got back to playing golf after surgery.Best wishes for your next round of treatment (and golf ) Best wishes Jane

  • Congratulations on your trophy win, and huge respect for taking such a positive attitude to the health challenges you are dealing with KidneyBeen.  Fingers crossed for similar success with the immunotherapy and good luck with the next round of golf. H x

  • Thanks to all for responses. I'm wondering if the immunotherapy is providing any benefit? I've had 3 treatment sessions so far, with no problems encountered. Next one due very early next month, then a PET scan to monitor any changes in either way to then be arranged.

I am finding it very frustrating to wait 3 weeks between each session, as feel that it should be more frequent if it's possibly going to do any good, but that apparently is the standard procedure. Also my negative side thinks it can't be doing any good, because I don't have any side effects!

Time will tell, meanwhile life goes on, to the extent that I'm putting down deposits for golfing tours and awaydays for next year, not really knowing if I will still be here, or fit enough to play!
