Hi i just wanted to reach out to people as i was diagnosed with bladder cancer and had 3 TURBT also with BCG and finally had a radical Cystectomy. If any one new to this has questions i would like to answer them as when i was diagnosed and treated i did not find many outlets of information thanks.

    Hi, Sceptre

I'm new and am asking on behalf of a friend's father.  Do you know if rectal bleeding is common after cystectomy.  Have you come across anyone else who has had it?

    Many thanks

yes it is very common after the operation and can be for a while but if after a month or so and you still experience it then i would suggest going to you're GP or Urologist and get it checked.

If the blood is bright red it is more then likely from a anal tear or a  hemorrhoid Which are very common. If it is dark red then as i said before it could be coming from the bowel that was cut if he had a ileal conduit. As they use a part of the bowel to make access for the urine out the body but if it persists then get it checked like i said before. Hope everything turns out ok.
