Me again. Can anyone tell me the reason why my husband should be getting a cystodiathermy procedure rather than a turb?  This is his third removal of tumours. Four tumours have appeared this time. Had one chemo straight after the first tumour then six sessions after the second removal of two tumours. Only discovered this at the premed this morning. Cystoscopy last Friday and operation this Tuesday. Never had the ops as early after diagnosis before.
nobody available at the hospital this morning able to give advice. Thank you x

  • Hi . Diathermy is usually used for early and small tumours. The abnormal cells are zapped with a laser or similar and the wound is cauterised at the same time. An easier and quicker procedure than a TURBT . TURBTs are usually for larger and more advanced tumours. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.
