Hi all

I have my TURBT coming on  the 11th Jan after it being cancelled before Xmas.

I was so disappointed it was cancelled and the wait again is agonising.

I still have cold symptoms and haven’t seen my gp in nearly 2 years.

every consolation has Been on the phone with antibiotics sent to chemist and I’ve never been seen.

i really feel let down by my gp even with my cancer diagnosis I had a 10 minute phone call and they even said after 10 minutes I’ve got to go.

Has anyone ever had their op cancelled due to cold/flu?

Any input would help

best wishes to all

  • Hi Waffledog,I’m sorry to hear you are still feeling ill.I can understand how let down you must feel as I never got any help from the gp either. You have a few more days to recover so fingers crossed your op goes ahead this time.I hope you feel better soon.Love and best wishes Jane

  • Hi Waffledog, I too have had no contact with GP, except one brief phone call re post op bladder infection.

On my last TURB, the pre Assessment Nurse had a stinking cold, and my op was two days away. She said don't worry if you get my cold your op will go ahead. Not sure if that's true or not but I would imagine if you are at the end of your cold you will be fine. Good luck.

  • I forgot to add that I turned up for a Turbt once and found I was running a temperature. They were very short staffed and my urologist ended up fetching a fan in the hope my op could go ahead. After the fan, paracetamols and a chat with the anaesthetist they went ahead.I had I.V fluids and paracetamol when I came round.

  • Thanks jane

    best wishes
