Hi 2 weeks ago my boyfriend was told he had stage 3 bladder cancer which was a huge shock as he just 41 . He has been told that the cancer can not be cured , it is aggressive and spreading to his kidneys and pelvis . He also found out after scans that he has a blood clot on his lung which he is now taking daily shots for but has been told this will massively reduce options for treatment as they will not give him surgery with the clot . He is waiting to hear what the treatment plan will be and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with cancer treatment and blood clots or any words of hope . Thanks .
Hi Bladder cancer and welcome to the group, although sorry to hear about your boyfriend. It is young to have bladder cancer, but not uncommon. We have had members who were unable to have surgery for some reason and who have been offered alternative treatment such as radiotherapy which is less invasive. When he gets his treatment plan, things will become clearer and there should be someone here to help with any questions about the treatment he will have. Best wishes.
Hi BladderC, sorry to hear your boyfriend has had such a frightening diagnosis. As Rily said there are other delaying treatments which may be offered. I hope you are getting support from either a specialist nurse or an organisation like Macmillan. This is a time when you need your questions answered by a professional so you can think about the options. Sending you both love at this tough time. x
