Hi all
I had a flexible cystoscopy yesterday and it was very uncomfortable. The consultant found a small dark raised area in my bladder and now wants to do a rigid cystoscopy.
I’m terrified about what the small raised area is.
Anyone had a similar experience?
thanks
Hi and welcome to the group, although sorry you had to find yourself here. I assume you must have had some symptoms in order to have a flexible cystoscopy. The op you are going to have is called a TURBT (trans urethral resection on bladder tumour). Sounds a lot worse than it is. Usually done in day surgery or maybe an overnight stay. The raised area will be shaved away and biopsies taken for analysis. A couple of weeks anxious waiting for the results to check if it is cancer or not. If it does turn out to be cancer, then be aware bladder cancer can be treated successfully. I hope all goes well. Best wishes.
