Hi peeps

This shielding is driving me to daft suggestions how about yon.

Suggested to my wife today it would be worth being fined just to stand on the shore of windermere and drink in the freedom.

Ah well that's the day dream for today over.

Being so serious for so long makes you want to escape you can if you keep busy with something that interests you.

Please don't knock it try and try again remember Robert the Bruce and his spider.

Coming up fot 2 years now 2 ridgids followed by flxis 6 chemo treatments and now on 5 th cycle on bcg.

Put 4 stone on latest blood say I am prediabetic honest you can't win now doing ww on line I ask you.

Never mind hey chin up you all

  • I hate being stuck in too Unamused really pulls me down but I've been out shopping and for walks with dog up till last week and I had self isolate due to going in hospital on February 1st for turbt ...I had cysoscomy in December andMusclethey found a tumour so begins my journey... hard for you to keep positive all the time the covid has so much to answer to things would be so much bearable if you could go for a walk,a coffee or drink with mates or generally just do our (old)normal stuff ..try to keep smiling and positive..take care MuscleOk hand

  • I’m meant to be shielding, don’t ask me why as my last BCG was about 7 years ago and since then been fine, I had the 3 shielding letters, free food box on the first lock down, now waiting for the Vit D,. First lockdown I stayed in, too scared to go out the gate, since then I’ve been out, I go twice a week shopping, every other day for a walk, always in our town , no way could I stay in again. Hoping I get my vaccine within the next week, not heard yet though. Stay safe.x

  • I really think your mental health suffers some people don't mind staying indoors doesn't seem to bother them ...not for me I feel so down when I can't go out ... roll on next week.. why are you haviing vitamin D I've seen few on here saying they are getting it ThinkingI take vitamin D tablet everyday i bought them myself ..take care and keep smiling Smiley

  • Privately I think it is past crazy to tell anyone who has direct access to outdoors to stay in their home. I can see if you have to go through a communal hallway and or down in a lift from flats, that that is high risk. But for folk who can walk straight out of the front door  into a reasonably wide street as we can, the fresh air and exercise is almost zero risk and massive benefit. But that's my opinion, I'm far too common sense to be a government minister...

  • Indeed - do you remember at the beginning the advice for shielding people to stand by an open window for a while each day? My Mum started standing by her open front door each day, probably getting more fresh air than usual!  Can't see any reason for shielding people not to go out if they can do so without getting close to anyone or touching any potentially contaminated surfaces. Even someone I know who was isolating used to creep out at night for a walk.

It's quite true though, that if you can get absorbed in some activity, the time goes by much faster. I wonder how many 'craft' items will go into circulation when all this is over!

  • Current advice is that those shielding can go out for daily exercise.I take the dog out but I'm lucky as I live on the edge of a village, so a 5 min walk and I'm in the fields.

  • I agree Sue. I walk the old chocolate Labrador every morning for one hour avoiding people at all times. We have “walkies” again in the evening for 20-30 minutes. Played golf earlier in the year with one other strict social distancing. All golf courses closed during this lockdown. I have got my Vitamin D tablets but waiting for my vaccine letter over 70 and vulnerable. Roll on kissing and hugging grandchildren and children, going on holiday, BBQ with friends and family and golf. Stay safe. Garviv

  • The dog gets me out a few times a day, so exercise and fresh air. Not shielding, but otherwise not really anywhere to go. Keeping busy putting my O level woodwork to good use. Built a breakfast bar and stools for daughter's small kitchen. Now started on double garden gates for other daughter. Got a text this afternoon from docs to book a vaccine jab at local football stadium. Simple online booking and set for Wednesday. Wasn't really expecting it as only just turned 70. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.
