Just been diagnosed with bladder cancer today (actually yesterday as it's 00:17 now) I've been told I'll be having an op in 4-6 weeks...is it worth trying to get a covid vaccine before I go into hospital?
To be honest, I'm terrified of the cancer, and Covid, but more worried about my family
Hello and welcome to the group. Any cancer diagnosis is scary, but be aware bladder cancer can be treated successfully, and the earlier it is caught, the better. We will all know the range of emotions you will be going through at the moment. We have been there. The initial op you will probably be having is called a TURBT (transurethral resection of bladder tumour). Sounds a lot worse than it is. Usually done in day surgery, but be prepared for an overnight stay. If offered a covid vacc, I would personally go for it, but hospitals are now well organised in keeping covid patients away from the rest. Talking to family is difficult at first, but I found it best to be open and honest with everyone and kept them in the loop all the way. There will be things going on in your head which you may want to keep to yourself, and that's where this community helps. You can express any thoughts you may have on here as we all understand. Feel free to ask anything here, no matter what. Best wishes.
