Hi everyone i have had my bladder removed and i am seeing my specialist in nine days to see if he will offer me chemo as i am much stronger now i have a urostomy and a stent which is continuously dripping blood and on antibiotics for this but am in quite a bit of pain in my tummy wonder if this is down to cancer i don’t know what to do with this breakthrough pain anyone else suffered with this thanks linda
Hi and welcome to the community. I have not had RC, so not really able to help, but I am sure someone with experience will be along to offer some advice. Best wishes.
Sounds more like an infection causing pain, although there can be all sorts of aches & twinges during the healing & recovery process after RC. If there are specific movements that are painful, then try to avoid those. A hot water bottle or heat pad might be soothing. Paracetemol is usually approved for pain relief, but best to check with the hosp - do you have a number to call for advice? Also if the stent is moving around, that can be uncomfortable. I had stents for 6 weeks post RC & was very sore where skin started to heal over the stitches. I used elastoplast to keep the stents in one place & not pull on the skin. Hopefully your consultant will advise. Best wishes.
Hi,Did you have your surgently recently ? I had abdominal pain a lot to begin with, mainly due to constipation after a bowel complication.I felt better lying flat but then walking helped to get the bowel moving.I took regular paracetamol and used a hot water bottle.I hope you feel better soon.Love Jane XX
