Hi everybody. Let me introduce myself. Diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2019 and had a radical cystectomy in February 2020. My recovery went very well for several months but I was diagnosed with a reoccurrence in July this year. A second surgery failed due to bowel adhesions from the first surgery so it has now been confirmed as incurable (plus I got a right leg DVT as a free gift!). I had a course of radiotherapy to help with symptoms and I am now in the early part of a course of immunotherapy so fingers crossed that it sticks. My oncologist says I have a low chance of success but he tells it like it is and I appreciate his honesty.I’m hoping to be pleasantly surprised!  Also a shout out to my local hospice palliative care team for their help with pain control - it’s not all about doom and gloom and end of life. Let’s hope that 2021 improves for everybody. Onwards and upwards.

  • Hi and welcome to the group. Sorry to hear of your recurrence but you appear to have a very positive attitude towards it. I'll join you in keeping my fingers crossed that the immunotherapy does the trick. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Hello AnnieUK. Sorry to hear about your troubles. You're not on your own with this group. Hope you get your pain under control.

    Keep in touch.

  • Hi AnnieUK, bloody reoccurrences we hate them! Sounds like you have a fantastic oncologist, I totally agree what we want is clear honest information. I always think, if they are keen to explain things clearly so I understand, then they probably know what they are doing. I've read about some success of immunotherapy for some USA folk on an international BC site. Seems to me for everyone with bladder cancer at any stage, message is fingers crossed, hope for the best and definitely live for the day. Sounds like you're going to. Keep us posted H x

  • You’re sounding very positive AnnieUK, that’s the way to be. Just wanted to say hiya and really hope the immunotherapy helps you. Stay safe and we’re always here for you if need be xx

    lots of love
