A Chatty Catch Up.

Hi All. This sort of thread happens in other groups and works quite well so I thought I would give it a go here, especially now some people are shielding and isolating again. Just general chat away from the usual medical things where people can just talk.

So, I went out for a quick pint earlier to Wethers for the first time since the local restrictions came in to force this week. Greeted at the door and had to give details. Asked if I wanted a drinking table or an eating one. Drinking, of course. The eating section, you had to have table service only. I was taken to a single table. The drinking tables, you order at the bar and then drinks are brought to your table. Last orders 9.30 and all out by 10. All very organised and for someone who likes their own company it suited me fine. I was hoping to hear a nostalgic bell and the shout of "Last orders Ladies and Gentleman please", but it was all a very sedate leaving. Best wishes

  • Well, here we go again!

Hope all in reasonable spirits to face the new measures. I'm thinking not a lot going to change for us as we haven't been going to other people's houses anyway. But a bit miffed that having spent 6 months of our choir not singing, we just had 2 months socially distanced & now stopped again.

Weather permitting, planning to meet sometime 1 - 1 with a friend on our local rec, well wrapped up with a thermos of coffee.

  • Yes agree hope everyone keeps well and not too isolated. Also hope all planned hospital appointments go ahead as i know from last time postponements are stressful. I have an appointment next week but appears to be just a chat as had my cystocopy last month and that was clear. So not sure what the chat is for next week. Best wishes all.

Halfway through my 6 week BCG induction course. Hope I get to finish it.

  • Hi Teasswill, I feel much the same, the new lockdown will make little difference to me. I've been pretty much self isolating ready for my next TURBT which should be before end of November. Thankfully I can continue to enjoy my daily dog walk in woodlands, which currently are absolutely wonderful with glorious autumn colour. All last week I was serenaded by the primeval booming of rutting stags echoing round the valley. My last visitor was a bat who flew into the house by mistake, then hung itself on the picture rail as it thought the electric lights signalled morning had arrived! Lights had to go off and it was guided out by torchlight. Nature keeps my spirits up. Love to all.xxx

We sometimes sit in the evening with all the lights out watching the bats swooping around catching insects outside our living room window. Sometimes we get the odd Badger wander in to the garden as well. It drives the dog batty the next morning when she finds the smells Grin

As we go into lock down 2, I'm delighted that BoJo has performed another U turn, this time on allowing pubs to sell take away ale. Some of us can't stand that gassy pee sold in cans and cask ale is good for the gut as it can purge the insides, as Rily will testify!

Like many of you, this lock down won't affect us as we've been keeping a low profile anyway, just us, the dogs, the youngest daughter now re-named 'Bubble' who keeps turning up on a weekend demanding food and money (she's only 29).

As its the last day before we cocoon again, I'm throwing caution to the wind and taking the car for its MOT as well as having a wander around B&M looking for the wife's birthday gift - if you never hear from me again, you'll know it didn't go down well!

  • Here we go again.... Lockdown for four weeks or as I suspect longer in Lancashire. Greetings from sunny Walton Le Dale where the rain has finally stopped albeit the chocolate Labrador and I got a soaking at 7.00 am this morning. Off to B@Q this Morning to buy paint for my next project painting the master bedroom in the west wing! Last chance to play 9 holes of golf this afternoon before total lockdown despite the clowns Gove and Jenrick assuring everyone golf courses and tennis clubs would be open. Wrong again! Closed on Thursday. Rather disturbing when an announcement of such severity as a national lockdown is announced and within hours two senior ministers appear to be unaware of the restrictions. No grandchildren, golf, meals/drinks out, no visits to family and friends.... still looking forward to the painting. Stay well and safe all BC chums.

Let’s hope this lockdown slows the infection rate although I suspect we may be in for a longer haul than 4 weeks. As others have said it won’t make much difference to us. Off to meet some friends this afternoon for a socially distanced walk, the last for a few weeks.

Stay safe everyone and hope everyone’s treatment carries on.

  • Managed to get a last haircut in this morning. Sun's out and I'm still wearing my shorts, trying to out-short the postman. Paint brushes on standby. Bargain Booze still open Sunglasses.  We were in Tier 3, so not much of a change for us besides shops closing. Wife still working at the hospital, so I will still be taking her. So let's hope this lockdown has some effect and we are not going to be continually yo-yoing in and out. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Not much to report here in Somerset.Struggling on caring for my mother who has dementia.Yesterday as I was about to leave to pick up her pills she said to the carer “I wish we could have a wild party like Stewie from Family Guy.” We get the odd flash of mum’s personality like that every now and again.Mostly she stares blankly and doesn’t talk much.Despite the challenges I’m glad mum is at home.I think she would have been more distressed in the care home knowing we couldn’t visit. The garden is looking overgrown and a mess but the autumn colour on the acers is stunning. The horse chestnut has produced some good conkers.Good luck with the present hunting CB.I‘ll be 60 on Friday.Love to you all.Jane xx
