Hi all I hope you are all well its rainy in Nottingham Today . I went for my first camera  on Monday  the first one since my TURBT in feb 2020 .I'm pleased  to say I have no recurrence  .

I am so pleased I go back in 6 months the doctor  said the longer  I go from my first TURBT  The better .

I know this might sound like a silly question  but does that mean I am completely  cancer free now ? Or just it hasn't returned at the moment the doctor  said it is like a dandelion  they remove the TURBT and check for it to return .

So my question  is will I always have bladder cancer  now is it it all gone I told my friend  and she said great you dont have cancer anymoor . So can I officially  say I dont have cancer anymoor  or do I still have it x

  • Hi . That's really great news. I know how emotional it can be to have an All Clear. Without trying to put a dampener on your good news, the downside of bladder cancer is that it has a high rate of recurrence. Some people never have a recurrence, while some have it come back regularly. For this reason, we are well monitored for years, and if it does come back it is usually caught early and can be dealt with. We tend not to use the word cured. If I am asked, I just say I am clear (at the moment). But for now enjoy the moment. I will raise a glass to your future good health. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • WOOHOOOO that's fantastic news fab7!

I've had recurrence since 2012, but one time there was nothing there.  The Urologist was surprised, which told me that mine was here to stay, but at least I knew where I stood.  Although in saying that some people do just have a one off, hopefully you're one of them.

Anyway let's get those drinks in & celebrate Dancer

  • Brilliant,I’m very happy for you Fab.Love Jane xx

  • Great result Fab7, love to hear about an all clear or no evidence of disease (NED) as some call it!  My take on it is that you don't have cancer now.... so hooray! But being bladder cancer, it is known to come back so thank goodness you are getting regular checks. A 6 month gap between cystoscopies is encouraging because it means medics are really hopeful for you. 3 years after diagnosis I'm still on 3 monthly cystoscopies (in theory but because of COVID my hospital's list is running two months in arrears) and it is my greatest ambition to become a 6 month person. Slight smile Sending love xxx

  • Aaaaa how I'd love for you to get a promotion to 6 months H.  I've moved past 12 months now, but I'm seeing someone on Monday, as a new patient of course.

I didn't highjack your thread fab, I only came in to top up everyone's drinks.  I've got crisps too Smile

    Take care all xxx

  • Hi Fab glad you got an all clear that’s good news. I also got an all clear after my first cystocopy and moved on to 6 months checks. This was August 19 on the next cystocopy check in Feb there was a reoccurrence and back in for second turbt in July...now waiting on next cystocopy to  see where I am. Best advice as a newbie I got from nice people on this site is to take each step as it comes and really enjoy the time between checks. Fingers x for you that no reoccurrence.
