Hi All. How is everyone doing? Anyone stuck indoors? Remember, this is a support group, and things don't always need to be medical. There is usually someone here if you just want a chat, a moan, or any stories. My wife has been stocking up on paint, so guess what I will be doing in the near future. Best wishes.
Hi
Bit of an odd couple of days. I received news that my kidney biopsy needed to be repeated, but wouldn't happen for four weeks. I contacted my Nurse at UCH and it's been rescheduled for tomorrow morning under local anaesthetic. Quite happy that there's not a wait, but I am a bit overwhelmed.
Hi
Well I got resigned to the fact that it had to be repeated, but I wanted to talk to my consultant. First, it was rearranged for next week and then tomorrow; it all happened so quickly. I personally think it was to save my anxiety.
I won't be sedated, which isn't a problem and my blood pressure meds are working, plus I've got my own readings. Not looking forward to it, but it's happening.
Hope the second biopsy goes OK.
All these upsets make my current bugbears seem pretty minimal. Sciatica & hip playing up a bit after gardening. Got a chip in my 3 month old car's windscreen & repair failed, so I have to take my car to the main workshop for full replacement. Then today I got a hearing aid dome stuck in my ear. Hope that's my run of 3 issues for the moment!
I hope the sciatica goes asap.I had it when I was caring for mum and it was painful.I think it was pushing the wheelchair that triggered it or gardening.Sorry about your other issues.I hope they are resolved soon.I’m waiting to hear about the heart monitor.I’ve still got the palpitations.Love Jane x
Hi
It was done under a local anesthetic, so it stung, but I can't fault the level of care. Roughly two to three weeks for the results, but that beats the original six I was told Monday.
I was able to leave after three hours. Bit of a long day, but it seemed very thorough.
I can relate to all three, especially the sciatica and hip pain. I used to have it constantly, thought it would never go and saw countless orthopaedic surgeons, osteopaths, pilates instructors and at last studied the Alexander Technique. My cure - lying on the floor in the semi- supine position (it's the basic Alexander technique) - knees bent, head supported on a block or a book so spine is straight from top of head to bottom, hands gently resting on front of pelvis, elbows on the floor then let all your muscles relax (so you may have to shuffle a bit to fully lengthen your back when it ungrips itself).
Lie there as long as you can, telling yourself to relax your muscles and checking how they feel, jaw unclenched nose pointing straight upwards. Repeat throughout the day. Take paracetamol for the pain.
It works if you let it. I've taught it to lots of people at the gym, and even my gardener and they all love it. So hope it helps.
Apart from that keep moving - sitting makes it worse, get a good, supportive chair and no slumping into it and take walks checking your posture so you feel as if there's a string pulling your head upwards - in this case nose points straight forwards.
Good luck. I have at least 6 things wrong with my back and hip and this has kept me walking for over 25 years now.
All the best,
