Hi All. How is everyone doing? Anyone stuck indoors? Remember, this is a support group, and things don't always need to be medical. There is usually someone here if you just want a chat, a moan, or any stories. My wife has been stocking up on paint, so guess what I will be doing in the near future. Best wishes.

  • I like honeysuckle but boy does it spread!!  I think I'll have to persuade my son to chop it down before it completely takes over one side of the garden and invades a neighbour's as well. I have some attractive 'granny's bonnet' plants in bloom near my front door. They re-seed themselves every year and have been in full bloom for a couple of weeks.

  • I have a variety of honeysuckle that has spread like mad but it covers an area where it is not a nuisance to others. I couldn’t do much outside as the pollen count is too high and it’s too hot. I did take these photos though

  • We live in a town house with kitchen on ground and lounge on 1st floor. Over the years we've added a couple of very comfortable back chairs to the kitchen /diner for coffee etc and use those during the day then go upstairs after dinner to watch the news in the lounge. But having everything on the same floor does help. This is a good second though.

We both have arthritis and stairs are painful but force ourselves to walk up and downstairs a lot so we keep some movement going as we age.

Good luck with finding what you want

  • Only thing to note with 'Granny's Bonnet', aquilegia, is that like foxgloves they are toxic if eaten. Just in case anyone's got small visitors to watch...

  • I didn’t know that but will remember it.The garden is full of Aguilegias.

  • I have the lounge on the ground floor and the kitchen the floor below at garden level. I don’t have happy memories of the kitchen being put in so I spend very little time in it. Perhaps when I move I may feel more inspired to cook. Also it doesn’t feel the same since mum died.

  • Hi all,

Interesting few days. I have been under active surveillance for my remaining kidney for a year. The mass, which is stable, but growing had accelerated recently. I've been chatting with my CSNs and Samantha the Senior Nurse called me this morning. The long and short of it is surgery at the Royal Free to remove the mass. To be quite honest, it's a bloody relief. When I have my scans for BC follow up there's a chance of cancer returning, but by and large the odds tend to be in my favour, despite the anxiety on the day.

With active surveillance you know there's something there every time. Hopefully, this will come to an end. Now I know there are risks, but aren't there always.

It doesn't matter where you go, there you are
  • Hi Ian,I can see why this would be a relief to you and I hope you won’t have to wait too long for surgery. It must have been a concern especially as you only have one kidney.Jane x
